Laura Linney's performance of weak, yet strong characters has earned her the title of one of the most popular American actors. Born to a famous playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who worked in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when spending summers with her father, eventually studying acting, initially at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway soon after graduation, she made her debut in film within two years, and then on television in the year after. Over the past few years she's been in many TV productions, films as well as stage productions. She received many accolades over the course of her career which included the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Though she was awarded numerous prizes through the years, performing has always been her first interest.
