April Lockhart

April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began with guitar and piano in the 7th grade, which ignited curiosity. April Lockhart penned her first track, Different at the age 12 years old. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musical ability. Over the next few months, she began taking writing trips with her father to LA and NY. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for her friends who were dealing in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer with an ever-growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia together, and is also a specialist in lifestyle. She has a disability that is a component of her personality, but it's not the entire of the picture. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability but doesn't focus solely on her disability. What message does it convey? It is important to remember that we all have many faces, our identities are varied and we are much greater than the bodies we wear. I do not want this to be the only thing that defines me. I don't wish to become a disability influencer in which I only discuss because there are so many other elements to me. Lockhart speaks via video from her home in Nashville. It doesn't affect my daily life. Everything is normal and I've learned to make adjustments. Because it's part of who I am, it's something that's worth talking about. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart truly inspires me on that front. She admits that she's been through phases with her body, at times, not being confident in wearing certain types of clothing which showed how much of her body. Now, though she dons anything she likes and uploads pictures of herself in these outfits on social media with pride. The self-love she talks about is a journey. It's hard to say when you'll reach the end. However, that is the case with anyone with doubts. The people you surround yourself with who truly know you, and can see into your heart are the best people who can remind you of the things you're worried about.
