Although Decker had always considered herself as a singer from the country genre, the album was made and promoted to a broader audience the back of her mind. Decker felt dissatisfied by the two other singles that were released from the album, challenged with the top executives of the record label for better power. Decker then released her second single Boys in the Summer which was more traditional. The album that Decker released as Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was canceled following Mercury was disappointed by the performances of three of her singles on country radio charts.
